Accreditation Processes
Accredited institutions undergo comprehensive evaluations at least every ten years. Newly accredited institutions are revisited within five years. In the interim, in keeping with the CIHE Policy on the Periodic Review of Accredited Institutions, institutions are subject to a variety of monitoring mechanisms. The nature and timing of such reviews vary in accordance with the circumstances at a given institution.
Institutional reports serve as vehicles to promote institutional improvement. They also support the Commission in its role of assuring the public of the quality of the institution and higher education as an enterprise. Reports to the Commission are confidential. The Commission encourages institutions to make them widely available.
Guidelines and required forms for various kinds of institutional reports are available through the menu on the left side of this page. Questions about the preparation of reports may be directed to any member of the Commission staff.
