About Us

NEASC's Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) is the regional accrediting body for 237 colleges and universities in New England and eight overseas institutions. A total of 240 institutions are accredited members; five institutions are in candidacy (a pre-accreditation status).

The Commission consists of elected faculty and administrators from member institutions, as well as members of the general public.  It is served by a staff of eight individuals led by Dr. Barbara Brittingham.
