About Us

NEASC's Commission on Institutions of Higher Education (CIHE) is the regional accrediting body for 238 colleges and universities in New England and nine overseas institutions. A total of 240 institutions are accredited members; seven institutions are in candidacy (a pre-accreditation status).

The Commission consists of elected faculty and administrators from member institutions, as well as members of the general public.  It is served by a staff of nine individuals led by Dr. Barbara Brittingham.
